Eye tap is basically a device that is supposed to be worn at the front of your eye so it acts like a camera to record every scene that is visible to the eyes and also as a display to the lay over computerized images on the actual scene that is visible to the eye. The device is designed in such a way that it functions as a camera and monitor in one as it ducts in the world around it and enhances the images that are seen by the users allowing it to superimpose the computerized data on top of the real world that is perceived by the users. Basically, eye tap is one technology which is pretty difficult to categorize under headers such as wearable technology for mediation, augmentation and constancy.
Nevertheless, this technology has constancy in nature, while still being able to enhance and mediate the genuineness perceived by the users. A beam splitter is used by eye tap, so the users can easily capture everything very accurately and then send the same data received to the camera and the eye of the user. The image is then digitalized by the camera and is sent to the computers. Images are further processed by the computer and sent forward to the projector. Following that, the images are sent to the other side of the beam by the projector, so as to reflect the computerized image and superimpose it to actual scene.
There are eye taps called stereo eye taps which are helpful in the modification of light that passes through the eyes however, many researches have taken place for prototypes which allow the ease of construction and only tap one eye precisely. A company launched by Steven Mann is also called as Eye tap which is basically designated for the promotion of eye-tap related technology such as the wearable computers. Eye tap is an extremely helpful device that allows the eye to perform both like a display screen and camera lens. It is an eye piece which displays the information from computer to the device and the users which indirectly helps the computer process and conveniently tailors what is visible to the user. What the user sees is captured by eye tap. This lets the eye tap to diminish, augment and control the visible perception of the atmosphere, which creates a reality that is computer mediated.
In addition, the computer generated information is displayed by eye tap at the right focal levels and tonal ranges. Aremac is the device that is used to generate the light rays that form an image which is slightly aligned and comes into light with the same amount of focus as the genuine world scene. Aremac is the backward spelling of camera. Rays of light that were supposed to enter the eye are reflected by a diverter, which is basically a dual sided mirror also called the beam splitter.

The rays of light that are reflected are collected either by a CCD camera or a sensor. The data collected is processed and the images are redisplayed by aremac as rays of light. Aremac is very helpful in displaying the information at proper depth. The rays reflect again off the diverter and are then collinear with the light rays from the actual scene. Finally, the light rays that hit off the diverter pass through the aremac and processor. Virtual light is then perceived by the users, which can be the mediated version by the computers or the real image, because virtual light is tailored by computer controls. In the computed mediated genuineness these days, images that are captured by the camera are seen by the users and by making alterations in the videos, the genuine worldly objects can be stemmed easily by the computer generated data.
When computer mediation is not used, eye tap videos are displayed in a way that the user can easily perceive what they would normally view in the absence of the device on their eyes. Eye tap generally arbitrates a portion of the vision of the users in such a way that it is amalgamated with the non arbitrated portion of the vision of the users, without any incongruity between the arbitrated area and the actual world. These eye taps are of extreme help in fields where users would gain advantage from the actual time information which is generally visual in nature. This information is referred to as augmented reality of computer-mediated reality. The Google Glass is the latest version of an Eye Tap.
Eye tap has been known as a great tool for people who suffer from any kind of visual disability due to its capability of providing direct visual data to the parts of the eye (retina) that work well. Nevertheless, side-effects such as headaches and difficulty in sleep may occur if the device is used before sleep.
